HOW IT ADDS UP
How to use the hourly pay calculator
Hours worked includes the unpaid break time in this calculator. Enter the break separately so it can be removed before payable time and overtime are calculated. The one-shift calculator supports up to 24 hours.
The calculation
Payable hours × hourly rate = estimated gross pay
For a 9-hour shift with a 30-minute unpaid break at $20 per hour, payable time is 8.5 hours. With no overtime applied, the gross estimate is 8.5 × $20 = $170.
What about overtime?
Enable daily overtime, weekly overtime or both, then enter your thresholds and multipliers. For weekly overtime, include the payable hours already worked in the week. When rules overlap, the higher applicable multiplier wins; the multipliers do not stack.
